when i was in college, a good friend of mine was a Glenn Gould fanatic. as a child i can remember rifiling through my father’s albums and finding Gould amongst the Van Cliburn and Bob Seger. today i bought my first Glenn Gould recording, Goldberg Variations, Two Fugues from ” The Well-Tempered Clavier”. it’s a wonderful listen, full of emotion and glory and musical umph! from all accounts, this man had genius that transcended music.

why are folks like Gould so rare these days? maybe they aren’t, mabye they are just overshadowed by folks like michael jackson…

at any rate, i suggest you pick it up and give it a listen. the New Yorker dubbed him the “Marlon Brando of the piano”! this recording was Gould’s US debut.
